Why Fixed-Price Web Design Beats Hourly Billing

Why Fixed-Price Web Design Beats Hourly Billing

Hourly billing is common in web design, but it quietly shifts all the financial risk onto the client. Here's why we quote fixed-price instead, and how it actually works.

The problem with hourly billing

When you're billed by the hour, the incentive isn't fully aligned — a slower process costs you more, not the agency. You also don't find out the real final cost until the project's finished, which makes budgeting genuinely difficult for a small business.

How fixed-price actually works

We agree the scope — what pages, what features, what it needs to do — before quoting a single price. You know the full cost before committing to anything, and we're incentivised to work efficiently, not to run the clock.

What happens if the scope changes

It's normal for ideas to evolve once you see real pages taking shape. If something genuinely new gets added mid-project, we quote that addition separately before touching it — so there's never a surprise on the final invoice.

Why this suits small businesses especially

When cash flow matters, knowing the exact cost upfront isn't a nice-to-have, it's essential. Fixed-price means you can commit to a website project with the same confidence as any other fixed-cost purchase.
